This bill, the Health Care Provider Out-of-Network Information Act, requires out-of-network health care facilities to provide certain information to consumers and obtain their consent before providing a health care service. The bill prohibits out-of-network facilities from charging, billing, or attempting to collect an amount in excess of the consumer's in-network cost share unless the consumer is provided the required notice and consents to receiving care from the out-of-network facility. The bill also designates a violation of these provisions as an unfair, abusive, or deceptive trade practice, and allows individuals to pursue other legal remedies. The bill is set to take effect on October 1, 2024.
