This bill amends existing Alabama law to allow abortions to be performed to preserve the health of the mother or if the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest. If a man is convicted of rape or incest, the court must require him to pay for the resulting abortion and undergo a vasectomy or castration. Additionally, the mother of the unborn child may petition the court to require the father to pay for the abortion and related medical expenses, and the father may be excused from these requirements if he agrees to undergo a vasectomy. The bill also provides expedited court procedures for these petitions.
