This bill amends the Kansas Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act to exempt beekeepers who meet certain requirements from the requirement to hold a food establishment or food processing plant license in order to sell packaged honey and honeycombs. The key provisions of the bill are: (1) the honey and honeycombs must be packaged on the beekeeper's property, (2) the products must be labeled with specific information, (3) the honey and honeycombs must be unaltered and free from additional additives, (4) the hive or hives must be located in Kansas, (5) the beekeeper's annual gross sales cannot exceed $50,000, and (6) the beekeeper must maintain records of sales. This exemption is intended to support small-scale beekeepers in Kansas.
