This bill aims to improve the health and safety of Connecticut residents in several ways: It requires home health care and home health aide agencies to collect and provide employees with information about clients' histories of violence, substance use, and other relevant medical conditions. It also mandates these agencies to adopt and implement health and safety training curricula, conduct monthly safety assessments, and report incidents of abuse. The bill establishes a grant program to provide escorts and safety mechanisms for home health workers. The bill also requires certain health care facilities that receive Medicaid reimbursement to adopt workplace violence prevention standards. The bill also makes changes related to health insurance coverage, including requiring coverage for coronary calcium scans and prohibiting denials of reimbursement or network participation based solely on a provider's decision not to maintain specialty certification.
