This bill, titled the "Not on Our Dime Act," prohibits certain nonprofit organizations registered in Maryland from aiding or abetting activities by the government of Israel or its citizens that are banned under the Geneva Conventions, such as the unlawful transfer of Israeli civilians into occupied territories, acts of violence against protected persons, destruction of property, and forced transfer or eviction of protected persons. The Attorney General or a person harmed by a violation can bring an action for injunctive relief and damages against the nonprofit organization, and a court can award attorney's fees to a prevailing plaintiff. The Secretary of State is required to remove a nonprofit organization from the Registry of Charitable Solicitation upon notice of a judgment against it under this law. The bill will take effect on October 1, 2024.
