This bill amends Idaho law to prohibit public entities from entering into contracts with companies that boycott certain industry sectors, such as fossil fuel-based energy, timber, minerals, hydroelectric power, nuclear energy, agriculture, or the manufacture, distribution, sale, or use of firearms. The bill defines "boycott" and provides exceptions where the requirements would be inconsistent with a public entity's constitutional or statutory duties or contrary to the entity's business needs. The provisions of the bill apply to contracts executed on or after July 1, 2024, and any existing contracts that violate the law cannot be renewed unless the required written certification is obtained.
