This bill authorizes home detention for juveniles adjudicated delinquent for certain motor vehicle offenses. Specifically, this bill allows a court to place a juvenile adjudicated delinquent for an act, which if committed by an adult, would constitute theft of a motor vehicle or unlawful taking of a motor vehicle on home detention. Under the bill, the court is to establish the duration and conditions of the juvenile's home detention, however the duration cannot exceed 60 days. In addition, under the bill, a juvenile placed on home detention may leave the residence of home detention for reasons approved by the court, including but not limited to, school, after-school activities, employment, counseling, community service, in-person court appearances or probation appointments, or for any other reason approved by the court.
