This bill amends the Minnesota Statutes to include local correctional officers under the Peace Officers Discipline Procedures Act. Specifically, it updates the definitions of "correctional officer" and "officer" to include those employed by local correctional or detention facilities in a security capacity. The bill also expands the applicability of the procedures and provisions of the Act to local correctional facilities and local detention facilities, in addition to law enforcement agencies and government units.
