This bill removes the county social work title exemption, which previously allowed certain county social workers to use titles incorporating the words "social work" or "social worker" without being licensed. The bill now requires that county social workers must hold a baccalaureate or graduate degree in social work in order to use these titles. This change applies to new hires after July 1, 2016, and also prohibits unlicensed county social workers from using these titles, even if they were hired before that date. The bill also clarifies requirements for the use of licensed social work titles and restricts the use of misleading or untruthful public statements or advertisements.
