This bill amends the existing law to authorize a landlord or their agent to charge an application screening fee only if they offer a specified application screening process at the time the fee is collected. The bill prohibits landlords from charging an application screening fee when they know or should know that no rental unit is available. The bill also removes the requirement for applicants to request a copy of the consumer credit report and instead requires the landlord or their agent to provide a copy of the report within 7 days of receiving it. Additionally, the bill clarifies that the provisions do not prevent a landlord from accepting a reusable tenant screening report.
