This bill would authorize the disclosure of an adopted person's original birth certificate to the adopted person or their child or grandchild. It would remove the requirement that new birth certificates omit certain information like the facility of birth and the race and color of the parents. The bill would also require the State Registrar to provide a copy of the original birth certificate and any adoption records to the adult adopted person or their direct line descendant upon request. Additionally, the bill would create a contact preference form for birth parents to indicate their preferences for being contacted by the adopted person or their descendants.
