This bill amends the Minnesota Human Rights Act to include gender identity as a protected characteristic alongside religion and sexual orientation. Specifically, it allows religious or fraternal organizations to make employment decisions based on religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity when it is a bona fide occupational qualification. Additionally, the bill exempts religious associations, corporations, and societies from prohibitions on discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in matters related to education, employment, housing, and use of facilities, as long as the activities are related to the organization's religious and educational purposes.
