This bill would authorize the Governor to suspend an adjustment to the motor vehicle fuel tax, which is scheduled to increase annually by the percentage change in the California Consumer Price Index. The Governor would be required to notify the Legislature and submit a proposal from the Department of Finance to maintain the same level of transportation funding if the scheduled adjustment is suspended. The bill would also update references in the law from the State Board of Equalization to the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration to reflect the transfer of duties between these agencies.
