AI Summary

This bill proposes to provide a statewide homestead exemption from ad valorem (property) taxes for certain senior citizens (aged 70 and older) in Georgia who volunteer with their local governments. The exemption amount would be determined by the local governing authorities, but would not exceed the lesser of $500 or the total tax owed per year. The bill requires local governments to approve and enact additional terms and conditions, such as the hourly credit for volunteer work and the types of eligible volunteer activities. The exemption would apply starting in 2025, subject to approval by Georgia voters in a 2024 referendum.
