This bill amends and adds to existing Idaho law to provide duties and authority for the Idaho Department of Lands, including supporting sustainable forest management practices on national forests, promoting forest management activities in the wildland-urban interface, and actively participating in the "Good Neighbor Authority" program that allows the state to provide watershed restoration and protection services on federal land. The bill also creates a "Good Neighbor Authority Fund" to receive and administer state and federal funds related to these forest management activities. The bill declares an emergency and sets an effective date of July 1, 2024.
