This bill appropriates $1,500,000 in fiscal year 2025 from the general fund to the Minnesota Commissioner of Agriculture to conduct a study, in consultation with the Commissioner of Health and the University of Minnesota, on the presence of microplastics in meat and poultry sold or offered for sale in the state. The Commissioner of Agriculture may contract with private laboratories or other entities as necessary to perform the study. The Commissioner must report the findings and recommendations to the legislative committees with jurisdiction over agriculture and health by February 1, 2025. This is a one-time appropriation.
