This bill prohibits the construction of schools within one-quarter mile of a dump site or closed landfill in Minnesota. It also requires schools located within one-quarter mile of such sites to annually provide written notice to parents and employees about the proximity to the dump site or landfill, including information about the site's history, contamination levels, and any mitigating actions taken. However, the prohibition and notice requirements do not apply if the school land has been tested and found to have low levels of contamination, as determined by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. The bill's provisions will take effect on July 1, 2024.
