This bill amends existing Alabama law to update the eligibility requirements and process for obtaining a special disabled veteran license plate. The key changes are: (1) the physical disability requirement is reduced from exceeding 50% to at least 50%; (2) the $5 registration fee can now be applied to any license plate category the disabled veteran qualifies for, rather than being limited to the disabled veteran plate; and (3) the new law will take effect on January 1, 2025.
