This bill amends Idaho law to establish provisions for postpartum Medicaid coverage for women. It requires the state to amend its Medicaid plan to extend coverage for 12 months postpartum for individuals who were eligible for and received Medicaid while pregnant, in accordance with federal law. The bill also requires the Department of Health and Welfare to begin the application process for federal approval of the Medicaid plan amendment by July 1, 2024. Additionally, the bill states that if federal funding for this coverage is reduced by more than 10%, the legislature's health and welfare committees will review the effects and recommend whether the coverage extension should remain in effect.
