This bill amends existing law to require paid signature gatherers to disclose that they are being paid and to revise provisions regarding the collection of signatures for ballot measures. Specifically, the bill requires paid signature gatherers to verbally notify potential signatories that they are being paid and to have a prominent written declaration of this on each petition page. It also requires paid gatherers to wear a badge stating they are "paid petition circulator." The bill also revises the affidavit requirements for both paid and unpaid gatherers, and specifies conditions under which petitions and signatures can be deemed void, including if the disclosure requirements are not met.
