This bill permits service credit in the Prosecutors Part of the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) for judicial clerk service, increases the salary of the Presiding Judge of the Appellate Division and county prosecutors, and allows retired judges to collect their pension while serving as county prosecutors. Specifically, the bill: 1. Allows county prosecutors appointed before or after the effective date of the bill to purchase service credit in the Prosecutors Part for their prior work as a law clerk to a New Jersey Superior Court judge or Supreme Court justice. 2. Increases the annual salary of the Presiding Judge of the Appellate Division to $218,545.82 starting on January 1, 2024, and provides for annual cost-of-living adjustments to the salaries of the Presiding Judge and county prosecutors over the following two years. 3. Permits retired judges receiving a pension to serve as county prosecutors and continue receiving their full pension, as long as they do not participate in any other state-administered retirement system during that time.
