AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to the establishment of a statewide supervised visitation initiative

This bill directs the Office of Children and Family Services, in consultation with the Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, to establish a statewide supervised visitation initiative. This initiative will include culturally sensitive services with language access for those who need it, and will be affordable for those with limited means to pay. The bill requires counties and New York City to submit annual assessments of local needs for supervised visitation services and plans for meeting those needs. The programs must be made available to comply with court orders and provide reports to the court, and the Office of Children and Family Services must promulgate regulations and submit annual reports to the legislature and governor evaluating the effectiveness of the initiative.
