The registry will list registrants' names, contact details, areas of expertise, and availability, and will be accessible to the public on the DOE's website. Eligible applicants include certified teachers, retired teachers, college students, industry professionals, and organizations with relevant expertise, among others. Crucially, all services offered through this registry must be free of charge, and applicants, with some exceptions for already-vetted teachers, must undergo criminal history record checks. Organizations applying must also ensure their tutors have completed these checks. The DOE may cover the costs of these background checks for individuals. The registry will include a disclaimer stating that the DOE has not independently verified the information or endorsed the quality of the tutoring services offered.
