This bill requires employers in Missouri to provide employees with a meal period of at least 30 consecutive minutes for every 8-hour shift, and prohibits employers from requiring employees to work for more than 5.5 hours without a meal break. The bill includes exceptions for certain situations, such as when compliance would adversely affect public safety or the employer has a small number of employees on a shift. Employers who violate the provisions of this bill may be subject to fines. The bill also authorizes the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations to promulgate rules and regulations for the administration of this law.
