This bill establishes the "Motivational Boot Camp Incarceration Program" in the Department of Corrections and allows certain persons between the ages of 17 and 22 who have had two prior convictions for nonviolent criminal offenses to be sentenced to the program instead of jail or prison time. The program emphasizes work, physical activity, intensive counseling, and self-discipline. Before a person can be placed in the program, an initial investigation must be conducted to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements. If the person successfully completes the two-year program, the offense may be expunged from their criminal record. If they do not complete the program, they may be sentenced to jail or prison time.
