This bill provides for the automatic pardon of individuals convicted of a first offense of possession of marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol, or chemical derivatives thereof, without requiring completion of their sentence or a recommendation from the Board of Pardons. The bill also requires that all court costs associated with the conviction be paid before the pardon is issued. Once a pardon is granted, the individual cannot receive another pardon under this provision. Additionally, individuals who receive a pardon under this bill can still be charged and punished as a second or multiple offender if they commit another crime.
