This bill enacts the "Trevyan Rowe child and young teen mental health community safety act", which directs boards of education to create policies, procedures, and guidelines for responding to at-risk children and young teenagers (17 years old or younger) who have demonstrated suicidal ideation, been victims of harassment or bullying, and/or eloped from school property. The bill also establishes a commission to evaluate the safety and security of children in primary and secondary public and private schools in New York State, with a focus on mental health services, racial/ethnic disparities, and the effects of COVID-19 on student mental health.
