This bill clarifies the criminal penalty for the use and possession of cannabis by persons under 21 years of age. It amends Minnesota Statutes to make it a misdemeanor for individuals under 21 to unlawfully use or possess certain amounts of cannabis flower, cannabis products, lower-potency hemp edibles, or hemp-derived consumer products. The bill also updates the definition of "juvenile controlled substance offense" to include violations of the new cannabis use and possession provisions. These changes will take effect on August 1, 2024, and apply to acts committed on or after that date.
