This bill appropriates $X in fiscal year 2025 from the general fund to the Secretary of State for the purpose of reimbursing local units of government (including counties, cities, school districts, and towns) for documented costs associated with implementing the redesigned official state flag and state seal. Eligible costs for reimbursement may include purchasing and installing new state flags and state seal emblems, professional services to redesign documents and materials that incorporate the current designs, and other approved costs to ensure the transition is not unduly burdensome or costly for local governments. The Secretary of State must establish a procedure for submitting reimbursement requests and ensure funds are distributed equitably, including to local governments outside the seven-county metropolitan area. This is a one-time appropriation available until spent.
