This bill modifies the limitations on prescribing and administering certain drugs by optometrists in Minnesota. Specifically, it allows optometrists to perform intravitreal injections, but restricts their ability to prescribe or administer certain oral medications, such as Schedule II and III drugs, oral steroids, and oral antivirals. The bill also requires consultation with a physician if optometrists need to prescribe or administer oral steroids for more than 14 days. These changes are made to the existing law governing the practice of optometry in Minnesota.
