This bill establishes the COVID-19 Children Scholarship program, which provides scholarships to children whose parent, primary caretaker, or sibling died or was disabled as a result of contracting COVID-19. The scholarship covers tuition, mandatory fees, and non-tuition costs of attendance at SUNY or CUNY institutions, or a comparable amount for other in-state colleges and universities. The scholarship is available for up to four years of undergraduate study, or five years if the program normally requires five years. The bill also amends the education law to add the COVID-19 Children Scholarship to the list of scholarship programs.
