This bill amends the Public School Code of 1949 to allow public school entities in Pennsylvania to employ or approve as volunteers certified school chaplains to provide support, services, and programs for students and employees. The bill defines a "certified school chaplain" as an individual certified by the National School Chaplain Association or a similar organization. The governing board of a public school entity is required to vote within six months of the bill's effective date on whether to adopt a policy authorizing the employment or approval of a certified school chaplain. The bill is known as the Student and Teacher Support Act and takes effect immediately.
