This bill exempts farmers from the commercial driver's license (CDL) requirement when operating a "covered farm vehicle" within 150 miles of their farm. A covered farm vehicle is defined as a vehicle or combination of vehicles registered in New York that is used to transport agricultural commodities, livestock, machinery, or supplies to and from a farm, and is not used for-hire or to transport hazardous materials. The bill removes the requirement for a special endorsement for operating covered farm vehicles over 26,000 pounds, and allows farmers to operate these vehicles with any class of license other than a DJ, M, or MJ license.
