This bill, called the ACES Act, directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to enter into an agreement with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to conduct a study on the prevalence and mortality of cancers among individuals who served as active duty aircrew in the Armed Forces. The study will identify exposures associated with military occupations of these covered individuals, review the literature on the link between these exposures and various types of cancer, and determine the prevalence and mortality of these cancers among the covered population using available data sources. The National Academies will then submit a report on the study's findings to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs and relevant congressional committees.
