This bill, the NIH IMPROVE Act, aims to continue funding the IMPROVE initiative through the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. Advancing research to reduce preventable causes of maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity, reduce racial, ethnic, geographic, and socioeconomic disparities in maternal health outcomes, and improve health for pregnant and postpartum individuals. 2. Using an integrated approach to understand the various factors that affect maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity, and building an evidence base for improved care and outcomes in specific regions of the United States. 3. Targeting health disparities associated with maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity by implementing and evaluating community-based interventions for disproportionately affected individuals, and identifying risk factors and underlying biological mechanisms associated with leading causes of maternal mortality and severe maternal morbidity. 4. Authorizing the appropriation of $53,400,000 for each of fiscal years 2025 through 2031 to carry out these provisions.
