This bill makes several changes to the laws governing athletic trainers in Massachusetts. First, it removes the requirement that athletic trainers can only practice within the schools, teams, or organizations they are associated with. Second, it requires the Board of Allied Health Professions to review and update the rules and regulations related to athletic trainers within 180 days of the bill's passage. Third, it allows licensed athletic trainers who have completed annual head injury safety training to perform certain medical evaluations in schools. Finally, it adds the term "athletic" before "trainers" in two sections of the law related to coaches and trainers in schools.
