This bill establishes minimum compensation rates for teachers and certain other unlicensed school staff in Minnesota. It sets a "teacher compensation threshold" of $80,000 for experienced teachers with a master's degree and $60,000 for other full-time equivalent teachers, which will be adjusted for inflation every four years. The bill also establishes a minimum hourly wage of $25 for "covered unlicensed staff members" who work at least 14 hours per week for 100 days in a school year. The bill creates aid programs to support these minimum compensation and wage requirements, to be calculated based on the differences between the thresholds and the existing compensation and wages as of September 2024. The provisions of the bill are effective starting July 1, 2024.
