This bill requires the Commissioner of Human Services to conduct an annual review of medications, treatments, and services for sickle cell disease that are covered under the state's Medical Assistance program. The purpose of the review is to determine if the available covered options are adequate to meet the needs of enrollees with sickle cell disease and whether the Commissioner should seek to add additional medications, treatments, or services. The Commissioner must solicit and consider input from the public, especially those with knowledge and experience in sickle cell disease treatment. The Commissioner must then submit an annual report to the legislature detailing the findings from the review and any recommendations. This reporting requirement does not expire.
