This bill extends the authority of the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to manage deer and bear populations until December 31, 2027. Specifically, the bill extends the DEC's ability to regulate open seasons, open areas, bag limits, and other aspects of deer and bear management. The bill also extends the DEC's authority to issue deer management permits to help control deer populations in certain areas of the state. This extension of the DEC's management powers was originally set to expire on December 31, 2024, but this bill pushes that expiration date back to December 31, 2027.
