This bill amends the Revised Judicature Act of 1961 to provide remedies for harm, injury, or death of a service animal. It establishes that a person is liable to the owner of a service animal for damages resulting from an injury to the service animal, including its death, caused by the person or an animal owned by the person. The bill allows for the recovery of various economic and non-economic damages, such as the value of the service animal, cost of care and retraining, as well as punitive damages and attorney fees if the conduct was intentional or reckless. The definition of "service animal" is based on the Michigan Penal Code.
