This bill, the Federal Agriculture Risk Management Enhancement and Resilience Act (FARMER Act), proposes several changes to the Federal Crop Insurance Act. It would increase the premium support provided by the government for certain farm-based revenue and yield protection plans when producers elect enterprise or whole-farm units. It would also modify the Supplemental Coverage Option (SCO) by reducing the minimum coverage level from 86% to 90% and increasing the premium subsidy from 65% to 80%. Additionally, the bill requires the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation to conduct a study on the feasibility of providing SCO coverage for counties larger than 1,400 square miles at levels smaller than countywide but greater than individual coverage.
