This bill requires certain health insurance policies in New York to provide coverage for diabetes screening for people of Asian American or Pacific Islander descent if they have a body mass index (BMI) of 23 or greater. The bill prohibits these policies from imposing any deductibles, co-insurance, co-payments, or other cost-sharing requirements on this diabetes screening coverage. The new requirements would apply to policies and contracts issued, renewed, modified, altered, or amended on or after the effective date of the bill.
