This bill requires the Commission on Human Trafficking to create a report on human trafficking risks associated with the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is partially scheduled to be held in New Jersey, and appropriates $1 million to fund these efforts. The bill also establishes a Human Trafficking Survivor Leader Advisory Council within the Division of Violence Intervention and Victim Assistance to provide a victim's perspective on anti-trafficking policies and strategies, and this council will consult with the Commission on Human Trafficking. The Commission's report will evaluate existing laws, recommend legislative changes and guidelines for law enforcement, review and suggest improvements to assistance programs for victims, promote a coordinated response, and develop public awareness campaigns about human trafficking, victim services, and prevention, including signage. The report must be submitted to the Governor and the Legislature within 180 days of the bill's enactment. The appropriation of $1 million is designated for the Department of Law and Public Safety to carry out the responsibilities outlined in this act.
