This bill amends Title 38 of the United States Code and the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) to provide certain protections and benefits to United States citizens who serve in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). Specifically, the bill states that, to the extent practicable, the service of a U.S. citizen in the IDF shall be treated the same as service in the U.S. uniformed services for the purposes of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). Additionally, the bill entitles U.S. citizens serving in the IDF to the relief and protections provided under the SCRA, as long as their IDF service is similar to military service as defined in the Act. These amendments apply to service performed on or after the date of the bill's enactment.
