This bill amends existing law to allow certain health care practitioners to refer patients to pharmacies in which the practitioner has a significant beneficial interest, as long as the pharmacy meets certain requirements. The bill provides an exemption to the general prohibition on practitioners referring patients to health care services in which they have a financial interest. The exemption applies to pharmacies that are integrated with an oncology practice, have direct access to patient records, provide in-person or telemedicine consultations, and comply with other regulatory requirements. The bill also allows referrals to be made in accordance with alternative payment model standards and professional standards applicable to the health care service.
