This bill, the Colonel Gary LaGrange AgVets Act of 2024, amends the Agricultural Research, Extension, and Education Reform Act of 1998 to direct the Secretary of Agriculture to establish a program that awards competitive grants to eligible entities, such as cooperative extension services, land-grant colleges, and nonprofit organizations, for the purpose of establishing and enhancing farming and ranching opportunities for veterans. The grants can be used to provide training, develop curricula, offer education and workshops, and support other activities to increase the number of veterans pursuing knowledge and skills in agriculture. The eligible entities are required to provide non-Federal matching funds equal to the grant amount. The bill authorizes $5 million in funding for each fiscal year from 2025 to 2029 to carry out the program.
