This bill, the Connected Maternal Online Monitoring Act (Connected MOM Act), aims to identify and address barriers to coverage of remote physiologic devices under state Medicaid programs to improve maternal and child health outcomes for pregnant and postpartum women. The key provisions include: (1) a requirement for the Secretary of Health and Human Services to submit a report to Congress on the authorities and state practices for covering remote physiological monitoring devices, including limitations and barriers to such coverage and their impact on maternal health outcomes, and recommendations on how to address these limitations or barriers; and (2) a requirement for the Secretary to update resources for state Medicaid programs, such as state Medicaid telehealth toolkits, to be consistent with the recommendations provided in the report.
