This bill increases short-term disability benefits in New York. Specifically, it gradually increases the weekly benefit amount for the first 12 weeks of disability leave, reaching 67% of the employee's average weekly wage (but not exceeding 67% of the state average weekly wage) by 2028. The bill also increases the maximum employee contribution for disability benefits to $2.20 per week starting in 2026, and to up to 40% of the combined employee and employer contribution by 2029. The bill also makes several other changes related to administration and enforcement of the disability and paid family leave programs.
