This bill, the Second Chance Reauthorization Act of 2024, reauthorizes and extends several programs established by the Second Chance Act of 2007. These programs provide funding for state and local reentry demonstration projects, family-based substance abuse treatment, educational initiatives in prisons and juvenile facilities, career training programs, offender reentry substance abuse and criminal justice collaboration, and community-based mentoring and transitional services. The bill extends the authorization for these programs from 2023 to 2029, allowing them to continue supporting the successful reintegration of formerly incarcerated individuals into their communities.
