This bill establishes the New York Road Salt Reduction Council and the New York Road Salt Reduction Advisory Committee to provide a mechanism for interagency cooperation and coordination to implement the recommendations of the Adirondack Road Salt Reduction Task Force report. The Council will assess the impacts of road salt use, recommend limits and best practices, and monitor progress of pilot programs. The Advisory Committee will provide information, advice, and guidance to the Council on issues related to road salt use and management. The goal is to protect public health and the environment from road salt contamination while maintaining safe roads for the driving public.
